Frequently Asked Questions

General

What is Ringya?

Ringya is the only app that lets you instantly create mobile contact lists, organizes your contacts in context, and allows sharing and collaboration to keep your contacts current, easy to reach… and at your fingertips.

What is a Ring?

Your “Rings” are organized mobile digital lists of contacts (your kids’ class lists and sports team rosters; your work colleagues; fellow committee members) and services (local service providers, such as gardeners and plumbers; favorite restaurants). Rings can be shared with friends and colleagues, your spouse or your nanny, so everyone has the numbers they need handy on their smartphone.

The people I call most often are in my phone address book. Why do I need Ringya?

Most people have only a small portion of their contacts lists in their phone address book. When you need to call people who are not in your phone address book – such as the new team member at work or the parent that can pick up your kid when you’re running late – you usually don’t have their contact info handy. Ringya makes all these contacts available to you.

And it allows you to easily share important numbers with your spouse, nanny, coworkers, friends, etc, and collaborate to keep the contact info current. You can easily upload an existing contact list (eg. take a photo of it or email Ringya a class list or office directory) or create your own (eg. favorite local restaurants, repair and handymen). When you share the Rings, invitees can update, edit, and add to it and everyone gets the changes.

What kinds of lists are most useful as "Rings"?

Work related Rings and those related to your children’s school and social life are probably the most common but there are many other useful Rings. For example: alumni Rings, community Rings, club members, family Rings, ad-hoc teams and workgroups or committees. You can also collaborate to create Rings of favorite local restaurants, recommended service providers, etc. – Share them with your friends or coworkers and collaborate to build the list and keep it up to date.

Is a Ring private?

When you create a resource Ring, it is private. You are the only person who can view or edit it. If you wish, you can share the Ring with some or all the members of the contact list, or people outside the Ring. Once shared, it can be viewed,  edited and shared by all anyone with whom you shared the Ring.

When creating a group Ring, once the creation process is complete, all group members will get the Ring and will be notified that the group is ready for use.

Can I upload business cards to Ringya?

Ringya is the best way to transform contact lists (class lists, work contacts, etc.) into digital mobile Rings. While it is technically possible to submit business cards, Ringya is not meant to serve this function.

Is Ringya free?

Yes.

Are there any ads in the service?

Yes, ads are served to users in certain countries and demographic groups.

Are Phone calls and Text messages free with Ringya?

No. When you call or text someone using Ringya, the call and text message are charged by your carrier like any other call or text message.

Will all those people from my contact lists be added to my phone address book?

Ringya places your contact lists in Rings within the application and keeps some contact information in your address book, not as normal contacts; that is, you will most likely not see them at all although they are there.

Which devices are supported? Do you support Android/Blackberry/Windows Mobile?

Ringya is available currently for iPhone and Android devices. Other devices may be added at later stages.

If someone appears in more than one list, which Ring will I see on my caller ID when they call?

Ringya shows a caller ID that includes all the information you should know about the caller – the caller’s name and title, the Ring name – so you know the context of the acquaintance. If someone appears in more than one Ring, you will see all those Rings listed in the caller ID.

Registration

Why does Ringya need my phone number?

Your phone number is your Ringya ID. This way you will never forget it. We send a 4 digit code as part of the registration process, to make sure no one else can register on your behalf.

Why does Ringya need my email address?

Once your email address has been verified it serves as your secondary Ringya ID. This will allow you to email us files that contain contact lists and we will automatically convert them into Rings in your Ringya app.
Moreover, if someone else shares a Ring in which your email address appears we will know to associate that Ring with you and that Ring will be loaded into your Ringya app automatically so you’ll have access to that Ring.

I didn't get my 4 digit code - help !

We send a text message with 4 digit code as part of the registration process, in order to make sure the person registering physically holds the mobile device with this number. If you did not receive the text message it is most probably because you entered a wrong phone number by mistake. Text messages usually arrive within a few seconds but in rare case they may take 1-2 minutes to arrive.
If you did not get the text message, you can contact support@ringya.com.

Why does Ringya need my name?

Ringya asks for your name, but it is not mandatory. You can always view and change your name under the Ringya “Me” tab. The name is used when we send invitations on your behalf (for example when you share a Ring) and also allows us to send you nicer messages (isn’t it better to receive a message starting with ‘Hello Dan’ rather than ‘Hello 789456789’ ?).

Why does Ringya ask to send push notification on iPhone?

Ringya sends notifications when someone shares a Ring with you, when your Ring is ready and when important updates are performed in your Rings. These notifications make sure the data in your Ringya application is always updated.

Creating new Rings

How can I create new Rings?

There are three ways you can create a Ring – from a printed contact list, from a contact list in a digital document (Microsoft Excel, Word or PDF), or manually.

Press the new Ring button on the top of the screen (the one with the plus sign) to see all the creation options and start creating your Rings.

Group Rings and Resource Rings

Some Rings represent a group of people such as a work team, class parents, clubs, associations, etc. This is a group of people who usually know each other and use Ringya for communication among all or select group members. Such Rings are referred to as group Rings. Resource Rings, on the other hand, are not necessarily shared with the contacts on the Ring and may include a list of restaurants, home handymen, babysitters, etc. When creating a group Ring, once the creation process is complete, all group members will get the Ring and will be notified that the group is ready for use – including its directory, message board and communication functions. Before completing the creation process you can view the Ring in preview mode to check and edit content created during the automated process. A resource Ring, on the other hand, is created as private Ring and you need to share it manually.

Is this a Group Ring or a Resource Ring?

Rings are processed as group Rings or resource Rings based on a very simple rule: when you are a member of the Ring it’s considered and processed as a group Ring. When you are not a member of the ring it will be considered and processed as a resource Ring.

How do I create a Ring from a printed contact list?

Open Ringya, press the new Ring button on the top of the the screen (the one with the plus sign), choose “From a paper list”. Then a camera screen will appear. Capture the list using the camera – make sure you are taking the picture in a lit environment. After you press the camera button, you will be able to view the captured image. You can then zoom in/out to make sure the quality of the picture is good. When you are satisfied, press the “Done” button to complete the creation or “Next Page” if you wish to capture more pages. Once you press “Done” you will be asked to provide a name for the Ring. That’s it. Now you have to wait patiently until you will be notified that the Ring is ready. It can take several hours.

How do I create a Ring from a digital document?

If you have a contact list in a digital document, such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel or Adobe PDF, simply email it to rings@ringya.com and it will be transformed into an organized, shareable, smart Ring.
Please make sure to send the document from an email that is registered and verified on Ringya. If you don’t remember which email(s) you registered, check the “Me” tab. There you’ll see all registered emails and can verify any that haven’t yet been verified.

How long does it take for a Ring to appear once I created it?

The Ring will appear with the small “in processing” status in your Rings list a few minutes after you send it. It usually takes up to an hour until the Ring is ready for use. In some cases it might take a few hours. You will be notified when the Ring is ready for use.

What is the Ring Preview Mode?

Before the group creation process is complete and before group Rings are shared with Ring members you have a chance to verify that all the group information is correct. In the Preview Mode you can edit and update any contact detail but you cannot use the Ring to communicate. Once you have finished reviewing the Ring you can complete the Ring creation process and start using it. Note: you can always edit the ring also after the Ring creation process is complete.

Can I abort the Ring creation process?

You can abort the Ring creation process by deleting the Ring while it is in preview mode.

Which languages are supported?

Ringya currently supports English, Spanish, Portuguese and Hebrew. Other languages will be supported in the future.

Why do some of the details in a Ring have question marks in them?

When the image sent to Ringya is not clear enough, some details might not be identifiable. In these cases, the new Ring might contain question marks in place of illegible digits or letters. You can edit these details and update them to include the correct data.

The list included photos which were not copied to the Ring

Ringya does not yet supports contact photos. Stay tuned…it will.

Not all details from the list were copied to the Ring

Ringya tries to map all the fields in the contact lists to fields in Rings. As some lists may include fields which are not really contact related fields (such as the kid’s grade), these details are sometime removed. You can always add them later manually in any of the contact fields.

When emailing a contact list to Ringya, how can I choose the Ring name?

Just write the name of the Ring as the email subject. In any case, you can always rename the Ring later from the Ring Details screen.

What types of documents can I send by email?

You can send documents of the following formats: Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, text files or images (for example, scanned image of the list). If you have the contacts lists in a different format – simply copy its content to Microsoft Word or Excel and send Ringya the new file.

I am trying to create a Ring, but it does not work. Why?

I sent a list by email and nothing happened

Please check your inbox or your spam folder. When you send a file to Ringya, you always receive within a few minutes an email confirming the file was received and being processed. In cases where there is a problem with your registered email address, you receive an email as well.

I received an email saying Ringya does not recognize my email address. Why?

The email address you provide during registration or set in the “ME” screen is used by Ringya to identify your emails. If you send an email from another address, or you still haven’t verified your email address, Ringya does not know that YOU sent it. Make sure you are sending your contact lists from an email address you registered with Ringya. If you don’t remember which email(s) you registered, check the “Me” tab. There you’ll see all registered emails and can verify any that haven’t yet been verified.

I got a notification that the Ring creation failed. Why ?

There are several reasons Ringya might fail to create the Ring from your paper list or file:

Ring does not include contact information

Ringya is about contact lists. To qualify as a contact list, a Ring must include at least one communication detail such as phone number or email address. While it might be cool to send Ringya your latest shopping receipt, it does not qualify as a contact list. If you receive the error message after sending a list by email, check the message you sent – you might have forgotten to attach the list.

Image is low quality or cropped

In order to turn your contact list into a Ring, Ringya must be able to identify the details in the picture. If you have the list in a document format, then it is better to send it by email. If you only have it on paper – try again to create the Ring, this time – hold the camera still and make sure you are taking the picture in a lit environment (or use the torch button). If the page is too long, you can take multiple pictures (use the “Add Page” button). After each picture you take you can also preview (including zoom in) to verify that the image is readable. If not – use the “retake” button to snap a photo of that page again.

List type not supported

Yes, Ringya is about personal contact lists and page 1524 of the White Pages book contains phone numbers, but it is not really a personal contact list, right? Please use the app to turn personal contact lists into Rings, nothing else. Ringya is not meant for scanning business cards either.

Unsupported file format

Ringya supports various file formats, but might not support all flavors or variations of digital formats. If you received this message, it does not mean we do not want to process your file, we just couldn’t. In this case, please open the file on your computer and copy/paste its content into a standard format (Microsoft Excel or Word, or even plain text file) – then resend it to Ringya.

Unsupported language

At the moment Ringya supports only lists in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Hebrew. Other languages will be supported in the future.

Handwritten lists are not supported

Ringya works best transforming clearly legible lists into digital mobile Rings.  Some handwritten lists are simply not legible to computer or human eyes.  If your list is rejected, please resubmit it as a typed paper list or digital file.

System Error

Hmmm… this might happen.
If you do not see any good reason not to, just try again. If you keep on getting the same response for your Ring – feel free to let us know on support@ringya.com.

Sharing Rings

What does it mean to share a Ring?

Sharing a Ring allows other people who may also benefit from having this ring to use it as well. Other parents in your son’s class may also benefit from the class contact list and other team members in your recent project may also benefit from the project’s contact list. Once you share a ring, all people with whom you shared the Ring are able to view, use, and edit the Ring. They can also share the Ring with other people.
When you share a Ring, an invitation message is sent to the people with whom you shared the Ring, notifying them that the Ring has been shared with them. If they are already Ringya users the Ring will appear in their Ringya app. If they are not Ringya users they will receive an invitation by text or email and after installing the Ringya app the Ring will be waiting for them.

Is Sharing Safe?

Yes, sharing is safe. Your shared Rings can be accessed only by people with whom the Ring was shared. No one else can view or access these contacts. You can also update or delete any information you are not comfortable sharing later on.
We take your privacy very seriously! We do not sell anything about you to anyone and we do not expose your data to anyone the ring was not shared with. You can learn more about our Privacy Policy here. In addition, we implement measures to minimize security risks and we use SSL encryption when you or any other user communicates with our servers.

What are the advantages of sharing a Ring?

Sharing your Rings not only helps others by giving them access to your Ring but also helps you by keeping your Ring up to date.  When Ring members update contact info, everyone who is using the Ring gets the new info.  That means you’ll have the most current phone numbers and emails right at your fingertips. And by sharing your lists, your coworkers, fellow class parents, or team members will thank you for making their life easier… by putting handy contact info right at their fingertips.

Do I pay for the sharing invitations?

No. Although some invitations are sent via a text message, these messages are not charged to your phone bill.

Can I change the name of a Ring before sharing?

When you share, you will be given the chance to choose a public name for the Ring.   So you can keep your personalized name (eg. “Bobbie’s class”) but the rest of the group will see the public name (eg. “Springfield School Grade 4”).

I shared a Ring by mistake – can I undo this?

No. But no harm was done, since you shared the Ring with its members and these are probably people who can benefit from the Ring. Anyone who received the shared Ring can always choose to delete it.

If you shared by mistake and feel it must be undone (due to a privacy issue or the inclusion of a sensitive information in the Ring), please contact us at support@ringya.com

How do I disconnect from a shared Ring?

If you no longer want to see this Ring in your Rings list, you can delete the Ring. Note that it will only be deleted from the Ringya app on your phone.
If all you want is to remove your contact information from the Ring – just find where your contact info is listed in the Ring and delete it.

Updating Rings

Who can update a shared Ring ?

Any Ringya user who was invited to use a shared Ring can update it.

How can I update a shared Ring ?

Just as you would update any other contact. Any update you make in any of the Ring contacts or in the Ring details screen will be seen by all the other Ring members.

Can I add or remove people from a shared Ring?

Yes, like you would add or remove contacts in a private Ring.
When you add people to a shared Ring in which you are also included (e.g. you are adding someone to your team’s Ring), Ringya will ask you if you want to share the Ring with the new contact. If you choose to do so, the new contact will receive an invitation to access the Ring as it is now shared with them.

How long does it take for a Ring to appear when someone invites me to a Ring?

When someone invites you to a shared Ring, you will be notified and the Ring will be available for your use instantly.

Can I see who updated what?

Not yet. For now you are simply notified that a change was made in the Ring.

Can I delete a Ring? How?

When you are in the screen showing the Ring contacts, press the menu button (on the bottom right corner in iPhone, or top right corner on Android)  and chose the “Delete Ring” option from the menu.

When you delete a shared Ring, you are deleting just your own copy of the Ring. Other Ring members will not be affected by your action.

Someone deleted my details from a Ring, what can I do?

If someone deleted you from a Ring, it might be because you are no longer part of the social group that comprises this Ring (for example, if the Ring is a work team Ring – you will be removed from it once you are no longer part of the team).

If you someone deleted your contact by mistake, do not worry! You still have access to the Ring – so you can add your details again.

How do I rename a Ring?

When you are on the screen showing the Ring contacts, press the menu button (bottom right corner of the screen on iPhone, or top right corner on Android) and choose “Ring Details”. There press the Edit button.
A shared Ring has both a “Personal name” and a “Public name”. This allows you to see the Ring as “Bobbie’s class” (assuming you son’s name is Bobbie) while other people on the Ring will see “Springfield Elementary 4th grade”.

I have a new version of a contact list that I already have on Ringya. Can Ringya update it ?

You can send Ringya the new contact list and it will be added as a new Ring. You can then delete the old Ring.
If the updates are minor, you can simply edit the few changes yourself on the original Ring.

Can I add contacts to a Ring by taking a picture of a contact list ?

No. You can capture a contact list only when creating a new Ring.

I deleted a Ring by mistake, what do I do?

If you deleted a private Ring, there is no way to undelete it.

If you deleted a shared Ring, you actually deleted your own copy of the shared Ring. In order to get it back, ask one of the other Ring members to remove you and then add you back to the Ring. Then you will be invited to the Ring again.

In the future you will be able to undelete Rings, so you will be able to change your mind or undo any mistakes.

Communicating through Ringya

Are Phone calls and Text messages free with Ringya?

No. When you call or text someone using Ringya, the call and text message are charged by your operator like any other call or text message.

Ringya’s contextual caller ID is not showing. Why?

For iPhone users:

If you do not see the caller ID on incoming calls, it might be due to one of three reasons:

1) You did not grant Ringya permission to access your address book. To grant permission to Ringya – open the iPhone settings app, there choose Privacy, and then Contacts. There you can find the Ringya icon. Change the permission to be ON.
2) For Rings over 250 contacts, Ringya does not show caller ID due to an iPhone limitation.
3) Ringya does not show caller ID for numbers you already have in your address book.

For Android users:

Ringya shows caller ID for numbers from your Rings. If the calling number also appears in your address book, Ringya will not show the caller ID. Also make sure your Caller ID feature is enabled under the Settings option in the main menu.
If you receive a call from someone in your Rings and you still don’t see the caller ID, it might be that there is another application on your phone with caller ID capabilities that is overriding Ringya. In this case you might need to remove the other application in order to allow Ringya to show the caller ID.

Why aren’t calls I made through Ringya showing on my phone’s call log? (Android)

Ringya lists your recent interactions in the “Recents” tab. Currently, Ringya does not update your phone’s general call and message log. We will add this capability in the future.

Can I disable Ringya Caller ID ?

iPhone users:

You can easily disable the caller ID feature by going to the iPhone “Settings” application and choosing “Ringya.” Change the caller ID option to “Off”.

Android users:

Press the menu button and choose “Settings” and switch “Show caller ID” option to “Off.”

When I send a group message, some people do not have a checkbox. Why?

When you send a group text message, only people who have a phone number will have a check box. When you send a group email message, only people with email addresses will have a check box.

I’m having trouble sending a group text message .Why ?

The group text message feature allows you to send messages to many recipients at once – tens or hundreds of contacts, but unfortunately, some carriers limit the number of recipients to whom a message can be sent. This limit differs among carriers, so some people can send messages to 100 recipients, while others cannot send to more than 10.

So how do you know your limit? You try. After you do, you can go to the phone text messages app and see if the message you just sent appears in the outgoing messages. If it does – rest assured it was sent. If not – try fewer recipients next time.

How do I send a message to all the people in the Ring / in a specific category?

Simple. Create a new group message. When you see the list of contacts to choose from, you can press the grouping buttons (those just below the search box) to group the contacts according to Role, Company etc. Then you can select all the people with the same Role with one click, by clicking on the group line.

For example, if you want to send a text message to all moms on the second grade class list, start a group message, press the “By Role” button above and then click the checkbox on the line saying “Moms”. All moms will be selected. You can then press on the right side of the “Moms” line, to open the group and specifically remove someone if you want (for example yourself).

Ringya Message Board

What is a Ring Message Board?

The Ring Message Board is a simple and effective way to send a message to all Ring users or to have a live conversation with them.

Who is a Ring User and how is it related to the Message Board?

Everyone who has access to a Ring – either because they created it or it was shared with them – is a Ring User. This may include both people that are already using the Ringya app (Ringya Users) and people that are not using the Ringya app yet. A Message Board conversation is a conversation between the Ring Users and all Ring Users will receive messages posted on the Message Board. You can see all the Ring Users in the Ring Details screen.

Who can post messages on the Message Board?

All Ringya users who have access to a Ring, either because they created it or because it was shared with them, can post messages on the Ring’s Message Board.

Who gets messages posted on the Message Board?

Everyone who has access to a Ring – either because they created it or it was shared with them – is a Ring User and therefore gets all messages posted on the Message Board. This may include both people that are already using the Ringya app (Ringya users) and people that are not using the Ringya app yet. So when posting a message on the Ring Message Board you can be sure that everyone will get the message including people that are not using the Ringya app yet or even do not have a smartphone.

How do Ring Users that do not have the Ringya app get Message Board messages?

Ring Users that do not have the Ringya app get messages posted on the Message Board via email (assuming, of course, that an email address for that person is listed in the Ring).

What happens if the Ring was not shared with everyone?

In this case only the people the Ring was shared with will receive messages posted on the Message Board.

Can I use the Message Board with just some of the Ring Users?

Yes. Just create a new Ring with the users you want to communicate with and use the Message Board of the newly created Ring. To easily create such a Ring first create a new manual ring, then use the ‘Copy from another Ring’ option to copy the contacts you want from the original Ring into the newly created one and finally share this Ring with all its members.

Can I turn off the Message Board notifications?

Yes. Message board notification can be turned off and on in the Ring Details Settings screen. You can turn off notifications completely or just make then silent.

People who get the notifications by email (i.e. non Ringya users) can click a link in the email to stop receiving email notifications from the board.

Why isn’t my name showing next to my messages?

If your contact information does not appear in the Ring and you have not provided a name in the ME tab of the app your email address will be used instead of your name next to your messages. If you would like your name to appear next to your Message Board messages either add your contact information to the ring or update your name in the ME tab.

Ringya and your Phone Contacts

Why does Ringya ask for access to my iPhone contacts?

Ringya accesses your phone contacts in order to be able to show the smart caller ID when you receive a call from any of your fellow Ring members. In addition, access to the phone contacts allows you to add contacts from your address book to Rings in Ringya and to see your phone contacts as a Ring.

If you do not allow Ringya to access the phone contacts, you can still use Ringya, but the caller ID, Copy-from-Contacts and Address Book as a Ring features will be disabled.

Does Ringya copy my phone address book?

No. And we never will.

Does Ringya change anything in my phone address book?

We do not change any of the existing information you have in your address book.

In iPhone, Ringya does create special contacts in your address book in order to be able to show you the caller information when you receive a call from any of your fellow Ring members. These contact are managed by the Ringya app and do not mix with regular contacts.

You can easily remove these special contacts (and disable the caller ID feature) by going into iPhone “Settings” and choosing “Ringya.” Change the caller ID option to “Off”

Can I import contacts from my phone address book into Ringya?

You can easily copy contacts from your address book into Ringya. To add contacts to an existing Ring on, open the Ring and hit the add Contact button (from the Menu button on iPhone, or from the bottom toolbar on Android), then select the “Copy from Address Book” option. Choose the contacts you want to add, and you are done.

Can I export Ring contacts into my Phone address book?

Not at the moment.

Ringya Coins are a virtual currency that may be used within the Ringya service.
Ringya Coins are awarded for referral of new users and in certain other cases. Ringya Coins may also be purchased at the App Store. Ringya Coins may be used within the app for those actions which require payment such as creating a new ring from a picture or an email.

You can see the number of Ringya coins needed from the Create A New Ring Screen.

How do I get Ringya Coins?

Each user also receives a welcome bonus of Ringya Coins when s/he first joins the Ringya service. This allows new users to experiment with the service and gain a firsthand impression of its value before ever having to accrue coins.
In addition, Ringya Coins may be purchased from within the app as an in-app purchase. You can see how many Ringya Coins you have and buy more from the “ME” tab of the Rinyga app.

What happens when I share a Ring?

When you share a Ring, for each new user who joins as a result you will be awarded Ringya Coins. Moreover, all the people you shared the ring with will receive the shared ring free of charge and will not be required to spend any Ringya Coins for it.

How do I know how many Ringya Coins I have?

You can see how many Ringya Coins you have in the ME tab of the Ringya app.

What happens if two people invite the same person? Who gets the credit?

When multiple people invite the same person the one who sent the last invitation is the one who gets the credit.

Privacy

Where does Ringya keep my Ring contacts?

Ringya keeps all the Rings data on your smartphone within the Ringya app and on Ringya’s servers. All the data is secured on Ringya’s server and all the communication between the Ringya app and the Ringya servers is encrypted.

Why does Ringya ask for my location?

Ringya does not ask for your location and does not use your location. iPhone does. When you send a group email with pictures, Ringya lets you select which pictures you want to send. Since pictures in iPhone may include location information, iPhone might ask for this permission.

How do I delete my Ringya account?

You can always delete your account by using the “Forget Me” option under the privacy menu. This option removes all the information Ringya keeps on your device and its copy on the Ringya servers.

My information was included in a Ring. How can I remove it?

If your information is included in a Ring to which you have access, it means it is a shared Ring and you can edit it, as can any other member of this Ring.

If you do not want to be part of the Ring, you can delete your contact info from the Ring.

If someone adds you to a Ring that you do not want to be part of, you can report it to us through the application “Report a Problem” option, or by sending an email message to misuse@ringya.com.

I am included in a Ring with an offensive name. What should I do?

If your information is included in a Ring, it means it is a shared Ring and you can edit it, as can any other member of this Ring.

Just go to your contact info in this Ring and remove the offensive content.

If someone adds you to a Ring that you do not want to be part of, you can report it to us through the application “Report a Problem” option, or by sending an email message to misuse@ringya.com.

Someone shared a Ring with me, and I do not want it (but I appear in it). What should I do?

If your information is included in a Ring, it means it is a shared Ring and you can edit it like any other member of this Ring.

If you do not want a Ring, delete it. Deleting it will not affect other Ring members.

Who has access to my Rings?

Your private Rings can be accessed only by you. Your shared Rings can be accessed only by people with whom the Ring was shared. No one else can access these contacts.

What do you do with the information you collect?

All the information Ringya collects – your details, your Rings etc. are used by Ringya solely for providing you the Ringya service. We do not use this information for any other purpose.

Do you sell my data?

No!

Do you share my data?

No. Only you can share your Rings.

Where can I find your Privacy Policy?

Our privacy policy can be found under the “Privacy” Menu option.

What you should do is to register on one phone (the MAIN phone) and once you have Ringya working on this phone, register Ringya on the other phone using the MAIN phone number (the same one you used before). The 4 digit code will be sent to your MAIN phone. Use this 4 digit code on the other phone. Once done, both phones will show the same Rings.

I am selling my phone to someone. How can I make sure he does not have access to my data?

You can use to the “Deactivate Device” option on the “Privacy” menu. This option erases all Ringya data from the phone. This option does not affect the data on Ringya servers, so your private Rings will not be deleted. That means you can download Ringya on your NEW phone and have access to your Rings.

Can I use Ringya on my iPad or iPod touch or Android tablet?

You can use iPad, iPod touch or Android tablet as your secondary device, meaning you must have one phone registered with Ringya (the MAIN phone) with a phone number. Once you have Ringya working on this phone, install and register Ringya on the iPod or tablet using the MAIN phone number. The 4 digit code will be sent to your MAIN phone. Use this 4 digit code on the tablet or iPod. Once done, the iPod or tablet will show the same Rings as your main phone.

I could not download Ringya from Apple appstore or Google Play, Why?

Ringya is available only in select countries.

Does Ringya add the contacts from the Rings to my phone address book ?

Android: No.

iPhone: Yes, but not as normal contacts; that is, you will most likely not see them at all although they are there. Ringya does create some special contacts in your address book in order to be able to show you the caller information when you receive a call from any of your fellow Ring members. These contact are managed by the Ringya app and do not mix with regular contacts.
You can easily remove these special contacts (and disable the caller ID feature) by going into iPhone “Settings” and choosing “Ringya.” Change the caller ID option to “Off”

When I receive a call, sometimes I see a blurry image in the place where the contact picture should appear

This iPhone specific issue is a known issue if your phone contacts are synchronized with Gmail through Microsoft Exchange protocol. Gmail resizes all contact pictures (not just Ringya’s), turning them into small unreadable thumbnails. Lately Google added the ability to sync your contacts through CardDAV –as far we know, using this option eliminates the problem.
